The Head of Indonesian Red Cross Society Blood Donation Unit (UDD PMI) South Sumatra, Dr. Kms Yakub Rahadiyanto, Sp.PK, M.Kes appreciated the blood donation social action initiated by the Indo Global Mandiri Foundation (IGM) and the Indonesian Islamic Movement (GMI).
He stated that one drop of blood are not manufactured by any factory but needs human participation for its availability. Most lecturers, employees, and students of Universitas IGM who donated their blood were considered a form of care and deserve appreciation.
To this day, blood is not manufactured in factories. We are grateful for your participation, said Yakub, on the sidelines of the blood donation activity, Monday (30/5/2022).
He believes the collaboration between GMI and IGM is in line with the idea of the Minister of Education and Culture, Nadiem Makarim as a realization of the Independent Campus, Freedom to Learn Program. Students can take advantage of the activities as community service, he explained.
Currently, PMI Sumsel is focusing on educating people not to be afraid to do blood donors. Given all this time there are still a lot of hoaxes and fears that exist in society.
We will help. These days based on data from the Indonesian Ministry of Health, South Sumatra has only been able to meet 58% of blood needs. We are trying to reach 2% of donors from the population of South Sumatra, which is 34.000 people out of 1.7 million people. We will operate constantly, he said.
Student participation is also very good to realize these targets. Especially Universitas IGM students. The student is still young in age, strong in stamina, and strongly suitable to support blood donor activities, he concluded.
